A passionate 26-year old BMX dirt jumper, Phineas Cooper, gets the chance of a lifetime

to compete at the national level, in the biggest televised jumping contest of the year.  But

his pursuit of triumph sours with a crash that knocks him out of commission.  Determined

to get back on track for the next major competition, he undergoes physical therapy for a couple months.  

 

In the meantime, he is ordered by court to complete community service for many unpaid citations for street riding in the city.  He is forced to volunteer at a local youth center

for at-risk teenage boys, and meets Jordin Riley, a beautiful humanitarian. To impress her, Phin decides to sign up for mentorship and handpicks one of the toughest boys named Blue Espinosa, a 14-year old whose mother is a heroin addict, and whose father was gunned down in a drug deal.

 

As Phin takes Blue under his wings, he and his friends lead him on adventures of riding

dirt trails, big jumps and cityscapes. The two become inseparable, and for the first time Blue experiences what it means to be a carefree kid, to be accepted, and to dream good things in life.  But Blue’s secret world of drug trafficking soon catches up with him, and even overtakes Phin by surprise – who has unwittingly become involved in Blue’s illegal activities.  Feeling exploited and endangered, Phin cuts off the friendship and refocuses on his physical training.  Meanwhile, Blue plots revenge against a nemesis gang, spiraling deeper into trouble.

 

Just as his second chance at the pro level contest comes around, Phin gets an urgent call

from Blue, who is being held hostage by a rival gang.  Phin is forced to decide between achieving his life-long dream of BMX stardom, and stepping away from it to put his own

life on the line to save the life of someone who betrayed him.  Everything comes head to

head, and becomes a race against time.
